Changing ownership of a domain name.

Ownership transfers as a rule have to be transactioned through the domain registration company.

In order to transfer a .UK Domain Name you will need to complete a transfer form, which can be found on the reverse of your registration Certificate. If you are not in receipt of a Certificate, please please refer to Nominet's site, www.nominet.org.uk.

.com / .net /.org names depend upon the registration company. Usually ownership changes can be processed through the registration company's website. To find who the registration company is, please refer to the whois search https://secure.vi.net/domaincheck.pl. For example, for Network Solutions / Verisign domain names, ownership changes can be initiated by the current owner on their website www.netsol.com.

An exception to this rule for .com / .net / .org names, are Melbourne IT (INWW) and Virtual Internet domain names. The current legal registrant should fax a letter of intent to the Servers Department on (0)20 7854 6669 alongside a similar letter request from the future owner.

For .biz and .info domains, please follow the same procedure and fax to (0)20 7854 6669.
